BC Eagle women fly past Blackbirds
NEWTON, Mass. -- The No. 16-ranked Boston College women’s team improved its winning streak to seven games with a 2-0 victory over Long Island in a non-conference match at the Newton Campus Field Wednesday.
The Eagles (8-0-1) took the lead on Hayley Dowd’s seventh-minute goal, one-timing from close range past Aline Allmann for her fourth of the season, after Gaby Carreiro touched on a McKenzie Meehan cross.
In the 77th-minute, Andrea O’Brien scored her second goal of the season, finishing the rebound of a Lauren Berman shot, set up by Dowd.
The Eagles outshot LIU (0-7-0), 31-3. The Eagles, who have totaled five shutouts, have outscored their last seven opponents, 20-2.
