BC Eagle women victimized by Louisville comeback
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The Boston College women’s team squandered a two-goal advantage in falling, 3-2, in extra time to Louisville in an ACC match at Lynn Stadium Sunday.
The Eagles (9-2-1 overall, 1-2-0) held a 2-0 lead on goals by Olivia Vaughn in the 26th and 38th minutes. The Cardinals (7-2-2, 2-0-1) cut the deficit on a 74th-minute Jill Vetere penalty kick, then tied the score as Inger Katrina Bjerke finished a Niamh Nelson feed in the 90th minute. The Eagles’ McKenzie Meehan narrowly missed high on a free kick in the first overtime, then Louisville broke the deadlock as Kaela Dickerman looped a header over Alexis Bryant in the opening seconds of the second overtime.
