WOMEN'S COLLEGE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Boston College Eagles forward Hayley Dowd
The Boston College Eaglesí victory over No. 2-ranked Florida State was considered an upset, but the Seminoles should not have been surprised by Hayley Dowd.
Dowd, the New England Soccer News Women's Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 10, converted the deciding goal in the 51st minute of a 2-1 win Thursday, the first time FSU had allowed more than one goal in a game this season. Dowd, a senior forward, scored for BC in a 2-2 draw with the Seminoles last season.
Nor should Dowdís scoring should not be a surprise to BC, as she totaled 148 goals playing for Peabody High School. In 77 career games, Dowd has scored 39 goals, pairing with McKenzie Meehan to give the Eagles a potent strike force. This season, Dowd has totaled seven goals in 14 matches, including four game-winners, one short of her career high.
