BC Eagle women defeated by Deacons
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- The Boston College women’s team dropped its second successive game, a 2-0 defeat to Wake Forest in an Atlantic Coast Conference match at Spry Stadium Saturday night.
The Eagles (10-5-1 overall, 2-5-0 ACC) threatened in the first half as McKenzie Meehan shot wide off a Hayley Dowd feed in the 23rd minute and Samantha Hiatt headed wide off a Gaby Carreiro corner kick in the 32nd minute. Wake Forest (9-6-0, 1-6-0) produced its best first-half chance as Claudia Day headed high off a 37th-minute corner kick.
Dowd had an early second-half opportunity, her shot saved by Lindsay Preston.
In the 77th minute, Caroline Wootten scored off a Kahla Seymour assist and in the 82nd minute, Reci Smith headed in a Maddie Huster corner. The Eagles rallied late on attempts by Jenna Bike, Olivia Vaughn and Meehan.
