CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- Boston College women’s team goalkeeper Alexis Bryant saved a penalty kick, but the Eagles fell, 3-2, to No. 8-ranked Virginia in an Atlantic Coast Conference match at Klockner Stadium Sunday.
McKenzie Meehan scored her 12th goal of the season in the sixth minute for the Eagles (10-7-1 overall, 2-7-0 ACC), but left the match injured. Bryant saved an Alexis Shaffer penalty kick in the 33rd minute. Shaffer then equalized on a 52nd-minute penalty kick, after collision involving Bryant and Cavalier (12-3-2, 5-2-2) forward Hannah Kerner. Jasmine Wright broke the deadlock in the 56th minute and Kristen McNabb upped the Cavalier lead to 3-1 off a 74th-minute corner kick, before Gaby Carreiro scored her first goal of the year on an 80th-minute free kick.
