BC Eagle men nudge NC State
NEWTON, Mass. -- Sophomore Trevor Davock scored three goals as the Boston College menís team took a 5-4 extra time victory over North Carolina State in both teamsí final Atlantic Coast Conference regular-season match at the Newton Campus Field Saturday night.
The Eagles (7-7-2 overall, 3-3-2 ACC), who snapped a four-game home winless streak, will play host to Virginia Tech in the first round of the conference tournament at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Davock scored in the third, 23rd and 71st minutes, his first goals of the season, then pressured the defense into a 95th-minute deciding own goal
BCís three-forward alignment helped stimulate the offense. Zeiko Lewis set up the first goal, making a steal and sending a long ball to Davock, his 26th career assist, tied with Louis Papadellis for the program record.
The Wolfpack (5-11-0, 1-7-0) equalized on Julius Duchschererís indirect kick in the penalty area in the 12th minute.
Davock broke the deadlock off feeds form Lewis and freshman Callum Johnson in the 23rd minute, then Johnsonís 25-yarder upped the edge to 3-1 in the 27th minute. N.C. State rallied on Tanner Roberts goals in the 59th and 69th minutes.
Davock then ran through the defense to five BC a 4-3 lead, before the Wolfpack equalized on Lukas Zargesí 85th-minute goal.
