BC Eagle men take PK victory, move to ACC quarters
NEWTON, Mass . -- Senior Zeiko Lewis scored twice and Younes Boudadi converted the decider as the Boston College menís team defeated No. 23-ranked Virginia Tech on penalty kicks after playing to a 2-2 draw in the first round of the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament at the Newton Campus Field Wednesday night.
The Eagles (7-7-3), who visit North Carolina in the quarterfinals at 1 p.m. Sunday, twice rallied from deficits to send the match to penalties. BCís Tomas Gudmundsson and Joshua Forbes converted and were matched by Marcelo Acuna and former U.S. U-17 national team defender Alessandro Mion, who scored both Hokie (10-4-4) goals, before BCís Trevor Davock and Morten Lamps had shots saved. Lewis converted and Techís Forrest White equalized before Boudadi gave BC a 4-3 edge and Rory Slevinís shot hit the bar.
Mion scored in the 44th minute, heading in the rebound of his shot after sophomore Cedric Saladin (six saves) stopped the first shot. Lewis tied the score off an Isaac Normesinu through ball in the 56th minute. Mion broke the deadlock off assists from Daniel Damiani and Juan Pablo Saavedra in the 85th minute. Lewis scored from close range into the left side of the net off a Simon Enstrom feed in the 86th minute.
