BC Eagles eliminated in second round of NCAA tourney
ALBANY, N.Y. -- Boston College surrendered two first-half goals in falling, 3-0, to Albany in the second round of the NCAA Menís Championship at the Tom & Mary Casey Stadium Sunday.
BC (9-9-3) outshot Albany (13-5-2), 14-13.
Bernardo Mattos scored on Albany's first corner kick, redirecting a header past Cedric Saladin in the 12th minute. Nico Solabarrieta upped the advantage, beating the offside trap, going in alone and chipping over Saladin off an Afonso Pinheiro through ball in the 27th minute. Zeiko Lewis threatened for BC with a burst down the right and Callum Johnson had a 25-yarder miss in the opening half. BCís Simon Enstrom had a shot punched out by Danny Vitiello (seven saves) in the 50th minute. Pinheiro scored his 13th goal of the season in the 83rd minute.
