Terrier women tripped by Arizona State

The Boston University women's team rallied late in dropping a 2-1 decision to Arizona State in both teamsí season-opener at Nickerson Field Friday night.

The Sun Devils threatened early, Rachel Blauner clearing off the line after a shot eluded Bridget Conway.

In the 40th minute, Christina Edwards finished to the top left corner past Conway after an Olivia Hernandez cross was deflected. In the 43rd minute, Adriana Orozco upped the lead to two goals off an assist from Edwards.

The Terriers cut the deficit as McKenna Doyle finished after a Chelsea Churchill shot was blocked.

BU, 10-11-1 in season openers, had a 6-3 edge in shots on goal, taking one shot in the opening half and nine in the second half in its first meeting with the Sun Devils.
