Terrier women blanked by BC Eagles

The Boston University Terriers women’s team continued a trend for slow starts to the season, remaining winless after a 3-0 loss to Boston College in a non-conference match at Nickerson Field Sunday night.

The Eagles (3-0-1) took the lead as Lauren Berman headed past Hannah Ciolek in the 14th minute. McKenzie Meehan (27th) and Kayla Jennings (60th) also headed in goals.

BU (0-4-0), which lost its fifth successive game over a two-season span, was winless until the seventh game (0-4-2) last season before rallying to qualify for the NCAA tournament.

"I think our defensive organization was really good,” BU coach Nancy Feldman said. “I would like us to have the ball more and I think we had opportunities to have the ball more. Our counter opportunities need to result in some better chances when we created turnovers in their half of the field.

"We started off with a lot of tough games. You certainly see where your faults are and where you need to make improvements and you're put to the test. It's hard because you're always under pressure but I think that should make us better."

The Terriers, 5-16-1 in the all-time series with BC, was outshot, 23-4, including 10-1 in shots on goal. Ciolek made a career-high seven saves.
