MEN'S COLLEGE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
BU Terriers' forward Felix De Bona
A recent three-game losing streak threatened to derail the Boston University Terriers’ season, but the team has recovered, thanks to the finishing ability of senior Felix De Bona.
De Bona, who last season scored nine goals in leading BU to its first NCAA berth since 2008, upped his season total to six goals as the Terriers took a 1-0 victory over Lafayette Saturday. De Bona, the New England Soccer News Men's Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 17, has scored four times in the last five games, including a two-goal performance as BU rallied for a 3-3 draw at Loyola Oct. 8.
De Bona was considered among the top prospects on the New England Revolution Academy teams when he was paired with Diego Fagundez at forward before trying his luck in Spain. After a season at the amateur level in Malaga, De Bona returned to Somerville High School. De Bona then enrolled at BU, where he has been a consistent threat, combining power and skill to score 21 goals in four seasons.
