Terrier women top Patriot League

The Boston University women’s team clinched its fourth successive Patriot League regular-season title, improving its conference home unbeaten streak to 39 games, with a 2-0 victory over Navy at Nickerson Field Saturday.

BU (8-10-1 overall, 8-1-0 PL), which will play a semifinals of the league tournament Friday, increased winning streaks to nine games overall and eight in conference on goals by Rachel Bloznalis (fifth minute) and Erica Kosienski (71st). Bloznalis scored off a corner kick and Kosienski sent in a shot from distance off a Jesse Shreck feed.

The Terriers, who outshot Navy (8-10-2, 4-4-1), 22-6, threatened in the first half, Kelly Park shooting high off a McKenna Doyle cross.

“We’re really happy to have a bye in the Patriot League quarterfinal round,” BU coach Nancy Feldman said. “We’ll be able to rest up next week and build up to Friday.

“We’re a good home team just like we’re a good away team. We’ve won it two times on the road. The pressure of the tournament time is something that we have to deal with. Everybody does. The games hold more significance because you don’t get another one if you’re unsuccessful.”
