Dartmouth men draw with River Hawks

LOWELL, Mass. -- The Dartmouth men’s team surrendered a late first-half penalty kick in playing to a 1-1 draw with UMass Lowell Saturday night.

Matt Greer’s sixth-minute header, his first goal of the season, gave the Big Green (1-1-3) the lead. The River Hawks (6-0-1) tied the score on Carlos Ruiz’ 41st-minute penalty kick, after Ivan Abramovic had been taken down.

“I am very proud of the effort the team put forth today,” Dartmouth coach Chad Riley said. “I thought for long stretches of the game we were excellent. We started very well and could have been up by more with better finishing. Credit to UMass Lowell they are a good team and there is a reason they haven't lost.

“We again controlled the game in the second half and made enough chances to win the game, but we didn't get the bounce or finish we needed. Overall there were more positives than negatives and now we need to break down the film and get better.”
