BURLINGTON, Vt. -- The Dartmouth women’s team improved its winning streak to three games, taking a 1-0 victory over Vermont Wednesday night.
Meredith Gurnee sent a shot off the inside of the left post in 55th-minute, her second goal of the season, for The Big Green (6-2-0).
“I thought Vermont (5-3-1) did a nice job on the ball, but I thought our defense did a nice job of not allowing them in behind,” Big Green coach Ron Rainey said. “The goal in the second half was a great strike by Meredith. It was really hit well and we were really happy for her with that goal. I’m also really proud of how the team played here in a one-goal game.”
Remy Borinsky also threatened for Big Green, hitting the right post in the 60th minute. Casey Cousineau made seven saves.
“The great thing this year with Casey is she is making every single save that she is suppose to make and she’s also making some spectacular saves as well,” Rainey said. “She’s been a rock for us. She’s talking well and really helping to direct her back line and we’ve had some great performances on the back line as well.’’
