TIED BY TIGERS
Big Green men continue winless streak
PRINCETON, N.J. -- The Dartmouth men’s team’s winless streak stretched to four games as the Big Green squandered a numerical advantage in playing to a 2-2 tie with Princeton in both teams’ Ivy League opener Saturday.
Dartmouth (1-2-5 overall, 0-0-1 Ivy) took a 2-0 lead on goals by Noah Paravicini (eighth minute) and Tyler Dowse (53rd). The Tigers (4-3-1, 0-0-1 ), who lost Daniel Bowkett to a second caution in the 37th minute, equalized on goals by Sean McSherry (55th) and Brian Costa (60th).
“Firstly, credit to Princeton, they really fought and battled to come back into the game and get the tie,” Dartmouth coach Chad Riley said. “I thought for large stretches it was some of the best soccer we have played all year, but we fell asleep at a couple of moments defensively and Princeton was able to capitalize. We scored a couple of excellent goals and created some other very quality chances.
“Overall even though the result was a tie, I was proud of the effort our squad put in, from the guys on the field through the whole bench everyone was pushing and looking for the solution. We have to continue to grow and continue to be focused on getting better each day.”
