Big Green winning streak snapped

The Dartmouth men’s team had its five-match unbeaten streak snapped as the Big Green fell to Boston University, 1-0, in extra time in a non-conference match at Nickerson Field Tuesday night.

The Big Green (4-3-5) also had a three-match winning streak snapped as the Terriers (5-5-2) decided the game on Felix De Bona’s 92nd-minute goal.

“Losing overtime games are never fun,” Big Green coach Chad Riley said. “I thought we did enough to get a victory, we created some very good chances, but you must take your chances. If you leave a team hanging around long enough this can happen to you. We had not lost since September 21st, so this one certainly stings.

“Credit to BU they battled and took their chance in OT to get the win. We will regroup and use the next few days to prepare for our important Ivy League game on Saturday.”

De Bona, BU’s leading scorer, converted his seventh goal of the season, curling a shot from the top left corner of the penalty area past senior James Hickok.

The Big Green, which was outshot, 12-11, threatened on an early shot by senior captain Emmanuel Arteaga.
