Crusaders blanked by St. John's

QUEENS, N.Y. -- The Holy Cross men’s team held off St. John’s until the second half in falling, 2-0, to the Red Storm at Belson Stadium Sunday night.

The Red Storm (3-1-1) outshot the Crusaders (3-2-0), 25-4, as Filippo Ricupati scored in the 66th and 89th minutes. Ricupati finished after Mike Prosuk headed on for the first goal and then converted off a Harry Cooksley through ball.

Yuji Callahan took the Crusaders’ only shot on net in the 67th minute, saved by Andrew Withers. Sophomore Henry Stutz made a career-high nine saves.

“We played a very strong team tonight,” Holy Cross coach Marco Koolman said. “We played a lot better in the second half overall but they took advantage of their opportunities and were able to earn the victory. We lost to a very good team.”
