Holy Cross Crusader women lose to Lehigh

WORCESTER, Mass. -- The Holy Cross Crusaders womenís team losing streak extended to seven games with a 1-0 defeat to the Lehigh Mountain Hawks in both teamsí Patriot League opener on Senior Day at the Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium Saturday.

Sophomore Sabrina Mertz sent a shot in off the bar in the 28th minute for Lehigh (6-0-1, 1-0-0). Crusaders (1-7-0, 0-1-0) retaliated on second half attempts by freshman Sidonie Warnecker and senior Christina Napolitano.

"Today was a well-fought match," Crusader coach Casey Brown said. "We defended well and it was they type of game where one goal was going to decide it. Unfortunately we were on the wrong side of it today. We will continue to build and move forward every day."
