Crusader women rally against Midshipmen

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Sophomore Andj Seslija’s 84th-minute free kick gave the Holy Cross women’s team a 2-2 draw with Navy in a Patriot League match Sunday.

Seslija, a Bosnia-Herzegozina international, converted from 20 yards for her fourth goal of the season as the Crusaders (1-8-2 overall, 0-2-2 PL) earned their second consecutive tie.

“Incredibly pleased with today’s effort and continued determination from this group,” Holy Cross coach Casey Brown said . “Our response to being down a goal and staying persistent with our attack was great to see. Getting a point on the road against a very good Navy team is huge.”

Navy (5-7-2, 2-1-1) took the lead on Rachel Feldman’s 31st-minute drive from the top of the penalty area. Freshman midfielder Kelly Crowley tied the score, heading in a 40th-minute free kick from senior defender Claire Malone for her first collegiate goal. Navy broke the deadlock on Karli Sottung’s 66th-minute goal.
