Crusader men draw with Midshipmen

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Junior captain Brad Ross scored in the second minute as the Holy Cross men’s team played to a 1-1 draw with Navy in a Patriot League match at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility Saturday.

Ross headed in from close range off a Joseph Metzger corner kick as the Crusaders (5-6-1 overall, 1-2-1 PL) snapped a three-game losing streak. Sam Bascom tied the score on a 20-yarder in the 49th minute. The Crusaders threatened as Joey DeVivo’s shot was saved by Mac Burke in the 82nd minute and Navy (2-6-3, 0-3-1) countered on a Daniel Zaremba shot, saved by freshman Bobby Hurstak in the 83rd minute.

“This was a good result,” Holy Cross coach Marco Koolman said. “It was nice to get a point on the road. Our team fought really hard and made some great scoring opportunities. We also defended really well.”
