Crusader women rally past Red Raiders

WORCESTER, Mass. -- Andj Seslija’s 108th-minute free kick gave the Holy Cross women’s team a 2-1 extra time win over Colgate in a Patriot League match Saturday night.

The Crusaders took their first victory over Colgate since a 2-1 extra time victory Oct. 13, 2002.

The Red Raiders (4-6-3 overall, 2-3-0 PL) took the lead on Abby Sotomayor’s 10th-minute goal. The Crusaders (2-8-2, 1-2-2) equalized as freshman defender Lucy Acuña scored her first collegiate goal off a Seslija assist in the 58th minute. Seslija scored from just outside the top of the penalty area for her fifth goal of the season.

"I'm so thrilled for this group," Holy Cross coach Casey Brown said. "It was a hard-fought game and the players gave everything they had. I couldn't be happier that they got the reward they deserved."
