Crusader men crushed by American


WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Holy Cross menís teamís winless streak extended to nine games with a 3-0 loss to American in a Patriot League match at Reeves Field Sunday.

The Crusaders (5-9-3 overall, 1-4-3 PL) were outshot, 15-4.

AU (9-5-4, 6-1-1) took the lead as Jake Garcia finished a Dale Ludwig redirection of a Joe Iraola corner kick in the sixth minute. In the 47th minute, Max Holdsworth scored his second goal of the season and in the 67th minute, Kibu Mbaluku converted off a Panos Nakhid through ball.

ďGiving up an early goal at the start of each half was tough,Ē HC coach Marco Koolman said, ďAmerican played really well. We did not play as aggressive as we have this year and you canít do that if you want to defeat the first-place team.Ē
