Northeastern women rally past Providence
BROOKLINE, Mass. -- Sophomore Hannah Rosenblatt scored with seven seconds on the clock to give the Northeastern women's team a 2-1 overtime win over Providence at Parsons Field Thursday night.
Providence (0-2-1) took the lead in the 20th minute as Kathryn Hiller headed a Kayla Steeves corner kick inside the right post. NU (1-1-1) tied the score as redshirt junior Taylor Caparo she finished a Hannah Lopiccolo cross inside the right post in the 83rd minute.
Senior Breeana Koemans set up the game-winner. Koemans gained possession in the NU half, then found Rosenblatt on the left wing. Rosenblatt ran at the defense and smashed a strike inside the right post from the top of the penalty area for her second career goal, her previous goal a game-decider in a 6-1 win at UMass Lowell Aug. 30.
Caparo netted her fourth collegiate goal and scored NU's first goal of the year for the second consecutive season as the Huskies won for the first time under coach Ashley Phillips.
NU sophomore Nathalie Nidetch made nine saves, including a point-blank denial on Rachel Ugolik in the first overtime. The Huskies held a 15-14 edge in shots.
