Northeastern women knock off New Hampshire
BROOKLINE, Mass. -- Junior Hannah Lopiccolo and senior Breeana Koemans scored in the first half as the Northeastern women's team won for the second successive time, a 2-1 victory over New Hampshire (3-4-2) in a non-conference match at Parsons Field Sunday.
Junior Kayla Cappuzzo assisted on both NU (5-4-1) goals. Northeastern sophomore Nathalie Nidetch stopped five shots in the first half, before being replaced by redshirt junior Jill Quinn, who made three saves, including a diving stop on Liz Lane at the top of the penalty area on breakaway early in the second half.
Lopiccolo scored off a Cappuzzo cross from the left wing in the ninth minute and Koemans converted from the center of the penalty area in the 12th minute. Koemans had an 86th-minute penalty kick saved by Mimi Borkan.
Brooke Murphy’s 42nd-minute free kick cut the UNH (3-4-2) deficit.
