Northeastern men halt Hartford Hawks

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. -- Martin Nygaard's 65th-minute header off a free kick from Gerardo Milano gave the Northeastern men's team a 1-0 win over Hartford in a non-conference match at Al-Marzook Field Tuesday night.

The Huskies (3-8-0) earned their third shutout of the season, snapping losing streaks of four games overall and six on the road, defeating Hartford for the first time in four games since 2004.

Nygaard, a 6-foot-4 Norwegian defender, headed in at the back post off Milano’s 30-yard free kick from the left for his first goal in 24 collegiate games, snapping the Hawks’ 265-minute shutout streak. Jonathan Thuresson made four saves for NU.
