NU Husky women halt Elon
BROOKLINE, Mass. --The Northeastern women's team solidified its Colonial Athletic Association lead with its fifth successive victory, a 3-0 win over Elon at Parson Field Sunday.
The Huskies (10-5-1 overall, 5-1-0 CAA) threatened in the opening half on a rain-soaked field on shots from distance by Kayla Cappuzzo in the 12th and 22nd minutes, both saved by Taylor Mohr, and a Valerina Soares Gache header that went wide off a Skylar LeBlanc cross in the 36th minute. Tori Baliatico’s 25-yarder went just high in the 43rd minute for Elon (7-7-1, 2-3-0).
MacKenzie Dowd broke the deadlock with her second goal of the season, sending in a low shot off the left post after advancing into the penalty area on the right in the 50th minute. Cappuzzo scored her fifth goal of the season, blasting in a 25-yarder off the underside of the bar in the 53rd minute. in the 85th minute, Hannah Rosenblatt scored her fourth goal in three games, heading in a Nicole Wilkins cross.
