NU Husky women halted by Hofstra
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. -- The Northeastern women’s team had winning streaks of five games overall and three on the road snapped as the Huskies fell, 2-1, to Hofstra in a Colonial Athletic Association match at the Hofstra Soccer Complex Saturday night.
The Huskies (10-6-1 overall, 5-2-0 CAA) remained in first place in the conference, outshooting the Pride (8-7-1, 2-5-0), 21-10.
Hofstra took the lead as Noriana Radwan one-timed a Jill Mulholland cross from the right wing in the 16th minute. Mulholland scored in the 33rd minute off the rebound of an Emily Agudelo free kick off the crossbar.
The Huskies cut the deficit as Carly Wilhelm took a long through ball from Jenny Sinclair, rounded Frederike Mehring, and scored into an open net in the 41st minute, her third goal of the season.
Mehring made eight saves, including a tip on a 75th-minute Kayla Cappuzzo blast.
