Northeastern women topple Towson
BROOKLINE, Mass. -- The Northeastern women’s team clinched a bye to the Colonial Athletic Association semifinals with a 2-0 win over Towson in a game delayed 39 minutes by lightning in the second half at Parsons Field Friday night.
Hannah Lopiccolo scored her fourth goal of the season on a 25th-minute 35-yard free kick and Hannah Rosenblatt converted her ninth goal of the season in the 82nd minute as NU (11-6-1 overall, 6-2-0 CAA) moved within a game of clinching hosting rights for the conference semifinals and final starting Friday, Nov. 4. The Huskies will be the host team if they earn at least a draw against James Madison Sunday.
Northeastern outshot Towson (6-11-1, 3-5-0), 20-3.
Rosenblatt finished near the right post from inside the penalty area after Carly Wilhelm led a counterattack on the right, then found Nicole Goreman.
