Northeastern women trip Tribe; Dragons next

BROOKLINE, Mass. -- The Northeastern women's team took a 3-0 win over William & Mary in the semifinals of the Colonial Athletic Association tournament Friday night, the Huskies sixth successive victory at Parsons Field.

Northeastern (13-6-1), which scored all three goals off set pieces, will meet No. 2-seeded Drexel in the final at Parsons Field 2:30 p.m. Sunday, the winner advancing to the NCAA tournament. NU has a 3-0-0 record in CAA finals.

Sophomores Hannah Rosenblatt, Eve Goulet and Valentina Soares Gache scored and junior Hannah Lopiccolo added two assists as NU outshot William & Mary (10-8-2), 22-11.

In the 14th minute, Rosenblatt first-timed a Lopiccolo corner kick for her 12th goal of the season (fifth game-winner). Lopiccolo started the second scoring sequence, sending a free kick up the left sideline to Kayla Cappuzzo, crossed for Goulet to head in her first collegiate goal in the 30th minute. Soares headed in near the right post off a Krista Meaglia corner in the 63rd minute.
