Providence women blank Black Bears
SACO, Maine -- The Providence College women’s team topped Maine, 1-0, in a non-conference match at Thornton Academy Sunday.
The Friars (1-2-1) took the lead on Kathryn Hiller’s 38th-minute goal, her third of the season, off a Casey Estey assist. Providence totaled nine of its 11 shots in the opening half and Kristyn Shea totaled eight saves.
“The positive, we won today and it’s always important to win on the road, especially against a team that was undefeated and scoring goals," PC coach Sam Lopes said. "Every game there are things we can always improve upon and today was no different. We did do some good things, especially earning a shutout and scoring a good goal in the run of play. Regardless of the result, the most important thing is to keep learning, growing, and working hard.”
