PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Julian Gresselís 57th-minute free kick gave the Providence Friars men's team a 2-1 win over Holy Cross at Chapey Field Friday night.

The Friars (1-2-0) started strong as Gressel sent an 11th-minute header wide and had his 25th-minute shot saved after going in alone on Henry Stutz.

Holy Cross (1-1-0) responded on a 30th-minute Matt Villano header that was cleared off the line by senior captain Nick Sailor.

Freshman Braden Kline, a 39th-minute substitute, scored his first career goal, volleying a cross from Sailor, to give Providence the lead in the 40th minute.

Mason Brummettís 47th-minute goal off an Arno Rupp through ball tied the score before Gressel scored his third goal of the season.
