PC Friar men fight off Marquette
PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College menís team took its sixth successive victory, a 2-1 win over the Marquette Golden Eagles in a Big East Conference match at Anderson Stadium Wednesday night.
The Friars (10-5-0 overall, 5-2 conference) outshot Marquette (4-6-4, 1-4-2), 10-9.
Providence sophomore Brendan Constantine capitalized on a turnover to score on a shot that deflected just inside the far post past Luiz Barraza in the 18th minute. Then, PC senior Julian Gressel popped a shot over Barraza and off the crossbar. Freshman Danny Griffin upped the advanced to 2-0, finishing into an open net off a Gressel feed, his fifth goal of the season, in the 36th minute. Luke Prpa cut the deficit with a shot from just inside the penalty area in the 77th minute.
