Providence Friar women stopped by St. John's

QUEENS, N.Y. -- The fifth-seeded Providence womenís team fell, 1-0, to St. Johnís in the quarterfinals of the Big East Conference tournament Tuesday night.

The Friars (11-7-2), who lost to the Red Storm (11-3-5) for the second time in four days, had their best chance as a Kathryn Hiller shot past Diana Poulin was cleared off the line, following a Casey Estey feed in the 30th minute. Morgan Tinari redirected a cross past Kristyn Shea (six saves) in the 84th minute.
