The UConn Huskies men's team experienced an emotional few days last week. The Huskies celebrated with legendary coach Joe Morrone, who was wheelchair-bound, after a dramatic comeback for a 2-1 win over UCSB on a rainy Sunday night. Four days later, Morrone died, UConn commemorated him with a moment of pre-game silence Saturday, the Huskies going on to defeat the Rhode Island Rams, 1-0, before a crowd of 4,400.

The events meant more to redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Scott Levene than most, as he went to high school in New Canaan and attended UConn games as a youngster.

PROVIDENCE -- After his team’s victory Friday night over George Mason, Connecticut coach Ray Reid said if the Huskies played the same way Sunday against UNC-Greensboro they would not win, apparently the players listened. The Huskies came out on Sunday and dominated the Spartans from the first whistle to pick up a 2-0 win in the de-facto championship game of the Adidas-Brown Soccer Classic Sunday afternoon at Stevenson Field.

PROVIDENCE -- The University of Connecticut men’s soccer team enjoyed two, 2-0 wins last week and on Friday night they looked to be heading for another easy victory over George Mason . Someone forgot to tell George Mason their roll as the Patriots jumped out to a shock 1-0 lead in the first half against the Huskies before UCONN restored the world to normalcy by scoring two second-half goals to pick up a 2-1 win Friday evening at the Adidas-Brown Soccer Classic at Stevenson Field to move their season record to 3-0.
