UConn Huskies score early, top Pacific

STORRS, Conn. -- Redshirt senior Stephanie Ribeiro’s tallied her third game-winning goal of the season in the third minute as the No. 18 UConn women’s team topped Pacific, 1-0,
at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium Friday.

The Huskies (4-1-0) outshot UOP (0-3-0), 31-11, the Tigers twice hitting the crossbar and senior Emily Armstrong tallying five saves.

UConn junior Danielle Gottwik created several opportunities, the in the 33rd minute, as she lofted a cross in front of the goal, and finished with three shots.

The Tigers had a 67th-minute breakaway, Armstrong making a diving save.
