UConn Huskies midfielder Kwame Awuah

The UConn Huskies have featured high-scoring striker prospects in recent years, from the Orlando City SCís Cyle Larin to Abdou Mbacke Thiam. And the player who has set up many of their goals has been senior midfielder Kwame Awuah, who followed Larinís path from Toronto to UConn.

Awuah, the New England Soccer News Men's Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 19, helped the Huskies match Notre Dameís midfield in a 1-0 extra time away loss Tuesday, then led the way in a 5-1 win over Loyola Maryland Saturday. UConn stayed with the No. 1-ranked Fighting Irish until falling to a 103rd-minute Jon Gallagher goal.

Since making his collegiate debut in 2013, Awuah has played in 71 successive matches (36-18-17) for UConn, leading the team in assists in 2014 and í15, and assisting on a team-high five goals this year.
