WOMEN'S COLLEGE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
UConn Huskies' Stephanie Ribeiro
UConn redshirt senior forward Stephanie Ribeiro did not need long to recover from an injury that caused her to miss the 2014 season. Ribeiro scored seven goals (six game-winners) last year, combining with strike partner Rachel Hill to lead the Huskies to a 19-4-0 record.
And Ribeiro has taken up where she left off this season – six of her eight goals have been game-winners, best in NCAA Division 1. Ribeiro, the New England Soccer News Women's Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 26, scored her 24th career goal (72 games) and also had three assists, as UConn (8-2-0) took a 4-1 victory over Fordham Thursday.
