UConn women stay even with SMU

DALLAS -- The No. 21-ranked UConn womenís team extended its unbeaten streak to six games, playing to a 0-0 draw with SMU in a showdown for first place in the American Athletic Conference match at Westcott Field Thursday night.

UConn (10-2-1 overall), which tied for the first time since 2014, and SMU (8-3-1) remained tied for the conference lead with 2-0-1 records.

UConn senior Emily Armstrong made seven saves, three in overtime, and sophomore defender Heidi Druehl cleared a shot off the line in the 16th minute.

UConnís best first half chance was on a 42nd-minute Stephanie Ribeiro free kick, Rachel Hill missing a diving header. SMU followed with shots off the crossbar and post in the 43rd minute.
