UConn Huskies fire past UCF
STORRS, Conn. -- The No. 21-ranked UConn women’s team improved its unbeaten streak to eight games with a 3-0 victory over Central Florida in an America East Conference match at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium Thursday night.
Senior Stephanie Ribeiro scored a goal and helped set up the other UConn (12-2-1 overall, 4-0-1 conference) goals, improving her point total to 36, best in NCAA Division 1, and goal total to 13, second in the nation.
UCF (6-6-1, 1-2-1) threatened early through leading scorer Carol Rodrigues, Emily Armstrong making one of her nine saves as UConn earned its third successive shutout and seventh shutout of the season.
Senior Toriana Patterson scored her first career goal in the 45th minute for a 1-0 halftime lead.
In the 57th minute, senior Rachel Hill scored on a breakaway, her 11th goal of the season, sixth in NCAA Division 1.
Ribeiro scored in the 66th minute.
