Two more Ribeiro goals lead UConn women past USF Bulls

STORRS, Conn. -- The No. 21-ranked UConn women's team improved its unbeaten streak nine games and took over first place in the American Athletic Conference with a 3-1 victory over the South Florida Bulls on Senior Day Sunday.

Senior Stephanie Ribeiro scored twice, upping her goal total to 15 and her NCAA Division 1-leading game-winning total to eight for the Huskies (13-2-1 overall, 5-0-1 conference). UConn defeated USF (10-2-1, 1-2-1) for the first time since a 1-0 win in Tampa Oct. 7, 2011.

Ribeiro scored off a Rachel Hill feed in the 16th minute, then gave UConn a 2-0 halftime advantage with a 36th-minute goal. Hill scored her 12th goal of the season and 57th of her career off a Heidi Druehl assist in the 60th minute.

USF scored in the 72nd minute as Andrea Hauksdottir converted from the top of the penalty area off a Gudrun Sigurdardottir corner kick.
