UConn men blank Boston College

STORRS, Conn. -- Redshirt sophomore defender Dylan Greenberg’s 100th-minute goal gave the UConn men’s team a 1-0 extra time victory over Boston College in a non-conference match at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium Tuesday night.

Connecticut (11-4-0) have an all-time 32-9-3 record against the Eagles 6-5-2.

Greenberg scored with seven seconds remaining in the first overtime period. The goal was set up as sophomore striker Abdou Mbacke Thiam found senior tri-captain Kwame Awuah at the top of the penalty area, Awuah laying off for Greenberg fire inside the right post for his first score of the season.

Connecticut had the first chance in the eighth minute when Andrew Geres took a long pass up the right flank and charged put a 22-yard low liner that was saved. In the 20th minute, the Huskies nearly scored as sophomore defender Simen Olafsen headed a corner kick wide left.

In the 49th minute, Sebastian Brems blasted a right-footer from the top of the penalty area high. Awuah nearly linked with Thiam in the 67th minute, threading a through that slipped past Thiam.

In the 81st minute, Thiam rushed into the penalty area and had a shot cleared off the line.
