She scores 17th goal as UConn blanks Bearcats

CINCINNATI, Ohio -- NCAA scoring leader Stephanie Ribeiro scored her 10th game-winning goal as the No. 19-ranked UConn women’s team topped Cincinnati, 2-0, in an America East Conference match at Gettler Stadium Saturday.

The Huskies (15-2-1 overall, 7-0-1 conference), who extended their streaks to 11 games unbeaten and five successive wins, can clinch the conference title with a win at East Carolina Sunday.

Ribeiro, who scored her 17th goal of the season, heading in a Heidi Druhl cross in the fifth minute, improved her consecutive game scoring streak to four games, providing the game-winner in three successive matches. Senior Rachel Hill scored her 58th career goal, second all-time for UConn, in the 71st minute.

The Bearcats (10-5-3, 3-3-2), who lost at home for the first time this season, outshot the Huskies, 26-10.
