UConn women gain 31st NCAA bid
STORRS, Conn. -- Rachel Hillís 40th-minute goal gave the University of Connecticut womenís team a 1-0 win over SMU in the American Athletic Conference tournament final at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium Sunday.
Hill was named the tournamentís Most Outstanding Offensive Player and senior Toriana Patterson Most Outstanding Defensive Player as UConn (18-2-1) improved its unbeaten streak to 13 games with its 10th straight home win and eighth successive victory since playing the Mustangs to a 0-0 draw in Dallas last month.
Hill finished off a Kim Urbanek long ball, her 15th goal of the season as UConn won their tournament for the second time in three years, earning its 31st bid to the NCAA tournament.
