UConn men halted by Golden Hurricane

TAMPA, Fla. -- The UConn men’s team extended its winless streak to four games with a 2-0 loss to Tulsa in the semifinals of the American Athletic Conference tournament at Corbett Stadium Friday night.

The Huskies (11-7-1), who had defeated the Golden Hurricane, 1-0, in Tulsa Oct. 1, surrendered a goal on the first shot of the game, Juan Sanchez scoring in the 11th minute. The Huskies retaliated as Abdou Mbacke Thiam had a shot saved off a Jake Nerwinski cross, then had a volley blocked off a Dylan Greenberg feed in the 22nd minute. Thiam earned a free kick, Kwame Awuah’s shot blocked by the wall in the 28th minute.

Matthew Puig increased the Tulsa (10-4-4) edge off a long ball in the 62nd minute.
