TWO TOO MUCH
Minutemen clipped by Colgate
HAMILTON, N.Y. -- Two goals in a two-minute span of the second half were too much for the UMass Minutemen to overcome in a 2-0 loss to Colgate in a non-conference match Sunday.
Jorge Becerra made a career-high nine saves, following an eight-save performance at No. 6 Syracuse Friday for UMass (0-2-0).
For the second consecutive match, the Minutemen held their opponent scoreless in the opening half.
In the 64th minute, Ethan Kutler advanced down the left wing, roofing a shot from a difficult angle near the goalline. Two minutes later, Kentaro Morrison lifted a high, curling strike that went over a leaping Becerra and just under the crossbar.
The Raiders (2-0-0) held a 22-7 advantage in shots. Ricky Brown made three saves for Colgate.
