UMass women draw with Brown
PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The UMass women’s soccer battled to a 0-0 draw with Brown at Stevenson-Pincince Stadium Thursday night.
UMass (2-3-1) had its best first half opportunity on a 41st-minute corner, a Daniela Alvarez shot cleared off the line off an Alyssa Fratarcangeli corner kick. Brown (3-1-2), which earned its fifth shutout of the season, threatened on a 48th-miute Celia Story header, saved by a diving Cassidy Babin.
In the 73rd minute, UMass had a close-range shot by Erin Doster skid just wide. In the 86th minute, Laura Johns and Salma Anastasio missed wide. In the final seconds, Alvarez took a Rebeca Frisk feed, her shot from the top of the penalty area saved by Christine Etzel.
