UMass women rout VCU Rams
AMHERST, Mass. -- The UMass women’s team snapped a 10-match winless streak with a 3-0 victory over Virginia Commonwealth in an Atlantic 10 Conference match at Rudd Field Sunday.
After a pregame ceremony honoring seniors, UMass (3-9-3 overall, 1-5-2 A-10) produced its highest scoring game of the year and sixth shutout. VCU (7-9-1, 3-5-0) threatened early as Maddi Santo hit the post in the 13th minute, UMass then scoring in transition as Megan Burke converted off a Daniel Alvarez assist. Gabriela Kenyon increased the lead, finishing after a failed clearance off a throw-in in the 38th minute. Salma Anastasio one-timed a Paige Koslowski cross in the 55th minute.
