AMHERST, Mass. -- Connor O'Dwyer's 19th-minute goal gave the UMass men's team a 1-0 win over George Washington in an Atlantic 10 Confernce match at Rudd Field Saturday.

The Minutemen (6-7-3 overall, 3-1-2 A-10) earned shutouts in all four home conference games for the first time since A-10 soccer in 1987. UMass, 3-0-1 in home conference matches and 6-2-2 in the last 10 games, honored seniors Jorge Becerra, Ty Goncalves, Josh Jess and Matt Pease in a pre-match ceremony.

UMass threatened early on a Mark Dunphy header past Thor Arne that was cleared off the line. O’Dwyer then headed home a Goncalves free kick. In the 21st minute, Dunphy’s shot was saved and an Alex DeSantis try skidded wide right. UMass had an 18-5 shot advantage over the Colonials (7-5-5, 2-3-2).
