BRONX, N.Y. -- The UMass men's team clinched a spot in the Atlantic 10 Conference tournament with a 2-0 win over Fordham Wednesday.

The Minutemen (7-7-3 overall, 4-1-2 A-10), who improved their winning streak to three games, moved into second place in the conference with a game remaining at La Salle Saturday, followed by the tournament in Davidson, N.C.

Ty Goncalves scored on a 55th-minute penalty kick after a foul by goalkeeper Rashid Nuhu, Goncalves’ fourth goal of the season. In the 61st minute, Josh Jess headed home a Goncalves corner for his fourth goal of the season and third in the last four matches as UMass outshot the Rams (7-6-3, 4-2-1), 9-7.

Jorge Becerra's seventh shutout of the season moved him into a tie for fourth on the single-season UMass list with All-America Zack Simmons (2008) and Bryan O'Quinn (2001, 2000).
