Catamount women topple The Citadel

CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Junior midfielder Colby Snyder's first collegiate goal gave the Vermont women's team a 1-0 win over The Citadel in a non-conference game at Washington Light Infantry Field Friday.

Snyder scored on a 47th-minute rebound after Dana Buckhornís shot from the left was saved by a Logan Leask.

The Catamounts (4-2-1) threatened on shots by Caitie Green and Sarah Martin in the opening half. In the second half, Vermontís Coco Speckmaier made a key save and Julia Smith set up several chances, including a point-blank shot by Martin in the 89th minute. Vermont outshot The Citadel (3-3-0), 16-7.
